The project comprised the upgrade of 374 VIDPs within Thubalethu by converting the existing double pits into septic tanks and installing low flush cisterns linked to a gravity operated, small bore sewerage network 8km in length with flushing eyes and minimal manholes.
The project was completed using labour intensive methods with labour sourced from the local community by a local sub-contractor.
