The project comprises an 11 000 square metre retail development that is anchored by a 3500m2 SPAR.
This together with the banks, clothing stores, cosmetics, furniture and appliance stores constitutes 80% national tenants. The KwaMashu town centre was underdeveloped for historical reasons and therefore lacked significant economic focus.
One of the primary objectives of the project was to open up land for private sector development. Whilst the KwaMashu town centre was well located in proximity to consumers, it lacked most key components to create a viable shopping commercial location. This development was therefore initiated to develop a node that offered the appropriate commercial / retail environment to serve the people of KwaMashu.
This development was therefore intended to create the required critical mass to kickstart the town centre and ZAI provided a “one stop shop” service to the client such that the project was completed within budget and the tight deadline set.
